A flight from Mauritius to Frankfurt, Germany, turned into a nightmare after dozens of passengers suddenly became ill with a stomach virus.

Condor Airlines Flight DE2315 was about halfway through its journey when around 70 of the 290 passengers started vomiting. The airline said that none of the flight crew got sick and that they received training for situations like this.

When the plane landed in Frankfurt, it was met by numerous ambulances and emergency responders who began treating the sick passengers.

Condor said it is investigating the incident and would not comment on possible causes, such as the in-flight meals served to the passengers.

"Condor has already initiated an investigation into the case in order to get to the bottom of the cause and to derive possible measures from it," the airline told German news site Bild. "Condor is working closely with all responsible partners and authorities. There is currently no result available. We generally do not participate in speculation about the cause, for example about individual menus on board that were prepared in Mauritius."
